2.2 Lore (Abreviated)
It is the year 3081. Planet earth is a desolate wasteland. A landscape of emptiness, with only urban prairies and bombed out buildings. Partially standing architecture, now hollowed out and crawling with overgrown flora. Nearly a century ago the Zeons – a race of extraterrestrials – invaded earth, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake. With a brute show of force and chemical weapons, the Zeons wiped out the entire human race using an extremely lethal, toxic nanobot gas substance that targeted all living things on earth except life forms with Zeon DNA. Completely ruined by the war and its surface contaminated by the deadly substance, earth appeared to be drained of life, and was no longer suited for anything to survive.
Or so, it seemed. Unexpectedly, a specific species of wildlife managed to escape the invasion and destruction of earth and the deadly aftermath of the Human-Zeon war. Unbenoinced to the Zeons, the humans had been experimenting on different rodents during the human-Zeon war by splicing human and Zeon DNA with various rodent species.
One species in particular; the ‘raccoon’ proved to be especially resilient and adaptive to the DNA splicing in ways that none of the other rodents had been. And due to the effects of the genetic and chemical DNA splicing experiments by the humans, several thousand wild raccoons experienced extraordinary increases in mental capacity, surpassing any level of intelligence ever achieved by mankind. But in addition to their increase in intelligence, the raccoons were also impervious to the toxic nanobot gasses that targeted all living things except life forms that had “Zeon DNA.”
With earth’s surface remaining uninhabitable for decades, the highly intelligent raccoons fled underground. The Zeon kingdom was utterly, unaware of their survival, and their very existence below the surface. And although the raccoons proved to be more then clever enough to survive and navigate undetected in their underground city; their little raccoon bodies, proved unsuited for the heavy labor required to lift/manipulate the above ground world designed, engineered and built by the humans.
Running out of resources, the raccoons realized they needed to leave the comfort of their underground city. And to master this new environment they needed to become even more resourceful with the tools they had on hand. So working from the framework of 12 foot tall Battle Mech robots, left behind in the underground city by the humans, the sentient raccoons built pilotable robots, called “Decimus Dynamics Robots” or ‘Decis’ for short. These massive robots piloted by raccoons would do the heavy lifting, moving, digging and rummaging for them.
So piloting their newly built robot Mechs the raccoons planned Expeditions to explore the Earth’s surface and scavenge for materials, fuel, and anything useful they could find to build a New World… What they didn’t know is not only were they building these robots to do the heavy lifting they couldn’t, and to scavenge for resources, but they were also building these robots for self-defense.
